The situation
Smash & Co. is a family-run restaurant in Lyon’s Croix-Rousse district, known for smashed burgers, loaded fries and homemade sauces. Regulars loved it, but tourists and new locals rarely found it.
The opening hours on Google were incomplete, the menu wasn’t linked, and most photos were dark phone shots from guests. For “burger near me”, “smash burger Lyon” and “best burgers Lyon”, competitors consistently appeared first.
What we did
- Profile clean-up: Updated categories, hours, attributes (takeaway, vegetarian options, outdoor seating) and contact details.
- Menu on Google: Added burgers, sides and specials with photos, so searches for specific dishes could match the restaurant.
- Food photography: A monthly shoot of dishes, the dining room and the team, in bright, appetising light.
- Review growth: A small table card with a QR code asking guests for honest feedback, and a reply to every review in French or English.
- Weekly posts: New specials and weekend events posted to keep the profile active.
The result
After five months, monthly direction requests tripled, from 188 to 563. The average rating rose from 4.3★ to 4.7★, and the restaurant now appears consistently for high-intent searches like “smash burger Lyon”.
Key takeaway: The food didn’t change. How easily hungry people could find it did.
