A Turkish bakery in Berlin, an English-speaking dentist in Lisbon, a relocation agency in Munich — many of the best local businesses serve customers in two, three or four languages. Their customers search in those languages too. Most profiles only speak one.
Say which languages you speak — everywhere
“English-speaking dentist” and “Arzt der Türkisch spricht” are real, frequent searches. Mention your languages:
- in your Google Business Profile description
- on your website, near the top of the page
- in your review replies
Let reviews speak many languages
Ask customers for reviews in the language they’re most comfortable with. A profile with reviews in German, English and Arabic tells every visitor: you’ll be understood here.
Reply in the language the review was written in. It takes a minute with a translation tool — and customers notice.
Create pages for your main language groups
If a big share of your customers speak English, an English version of your key pages (services, prices, contact, how to book) can bring in a whole new group of searches. Use proper hreflang tags so Google shows the right language.
Start small: one high-quality translated page beats ten machine-translated ones.
Use the right local directories
Expat and community directories, embassies’ lists of doctors, international school networks, language-specific Facebook groups — these send customers and strengthen your local presence.
Write your profile description for people, not robots
Two or three short sentences: what you do, for whom, where, and which languages you speak. No keyword lists.
Check how AI assistants describe you
More and more people ask ChatGPT or Google’s AI for recommendations — often in their own language. Ask them: “Which dentist in [your city] speaks English?” If you’re not mentioned, consistent information across your profile, website and reviews is the fix.
Where to start
Add your languages to your profile today, then ask your next ten customers for a review in their language.
